Guðrún Ýr, also known by her stage name GDRN, is a popular singer in Iceland and recently starred in Katla, an Icelandic mystery-drama television series.

What is your favourite Christmas tradition?

My favourite tradition is to decorate "leaf bread" with my family and friends. Laufabrauð is a traditional kind of Icelandic bread, sometimes called snowflake bread, that is most often eaten in the Christmas season. 

Which 66°North product do you use the most?

I really love my merino baselayer set, Básar, and I use it a lot. 

What is your favourite place to travel to in Iceland?

My favourite place to travel is Þórsmörk, the southern highlands of Iceland.

I will be at home this Christmas with my family. 

My favourite christmas record is Hátíð í bæ with the singer Haukur Morthens. 

My all time favourite is The Nightmare before Christmas.

Guðrún Ýr Eyfjörð in "You have to take chances"

Emilie is a big Christmas fan, but she and her family have a lot of holiday traditions. She lives in Copenhagen and works as a social media influencer, DJ, podcast-host and takes care of various projects in the growing cultural-scene in Copenhagen.

Þorbergur Ingi Jónsson grew up playing soccer during the long and snowy winters of eastern Iceland so he was never fazed by exercising outdoors. Soccer gave way to track and field but once he discovered ultra running in his twenties something clicked. An engineer by trade, on Iceland´s most popular cross country trail Þorbergur has the 5 best finishing times.

Fanney Þorbjörg started skiing at the age of 6 and from that point on, there. was no turning back. Today, she is not only an avid skier but also a dedicated trail runner and footballer. 

In 2005, Wouter and Janne met in Reykjavík after both individually moving to Iceland to study and travel. It wasn't long before they started to travel the country together and quickly fell in love with the small fishing villages and the slow living fjord lifestyle. There was one particular place that captured their hearts, the small village of Þingeyri, where they noticed a run-down house in the middle of town. It was here that their future together in the Westfjords began.

Ása Steinars grew up surrounded by fascinating landscape and the forever changing weather in Iceland. This gave her a tight bond to the nature and its forces and eventually drove her to pursue a career as a travel photographer where she shares her work on social media.

Eydís María and Benjamin are both photographers and travel a lot because of their work, both around Iceland, where they live, and also to more exotic places. Benjamin is from Australia and moved to Iceland a few years ago, driven by the Icelandic nature and his constant search fro natural phenomena. Eydís María loves traveling to cold places and she traveled to Greenland last year and hopefully she will manage to go to Svaldbard this winter.

We sat down with a few of our friends and got an insight into their favorite Christmas traditions and what they'd most prefer under the tree this year.
